Desktops

At the beginning of each month I create and add a new digital layout to my desktop. And when the kids come to our house, they run to my desk to see what the screen looks like and if it has changed.

Since my days this summer have all been full of outdoor activities such as gardening and yard work; and kitchen duties such as canning our bountiful garden and cooking meals, I've had very little time to scrapbook and this fills that void and gives me a little of the creative flow that I often crave. And since I started this blog, the need to share pictures and the desire to do a little bragging on the grandkids has also been fulfilled. But with the changing of the seasons and the rainy weather we've had these last two days, I can feel the creative need to get back into my digital scrapbook coming back full force. Yes, I need to clean house and I still need to do a lot more work outside like clear out some dead bushes from my front flower bed, put some pansies into the pots where some of my flowers have died from lack of TLC, and clear out the garden of the bad watermelons and canteloupes. But right now, on this wet, cool and rainy Sunday afternoon, I sat at my computer and created this:

And last month, this was on my desktop:

I always use pictures that I took the previous month for this month's desktop and if you are thinking that I am spending a whole lot of time doing these, you are wrong. For the September layout, I simply went to my favorite digital designer's blog and downloaded her creation. Then, using my favorite editing software, FotoFusion, I slip in my pictures. I then render the entire image and save it to my desktop.

The October desktop is different from the free one the designer offered simple because after I slipped in the pictures I wanted to use, it didn't look good on my computer screen. So, I simply went to the folder that holds my digital scrapping supplies and loaded them into FotoFusion and then loaded in the pictures. I changed the color to sepia tone so they would look more in tune with my chosen colors.

I love doing this and I have missed it terribly these last months and am ready to get into the creative flow again. I have several scrapbooks that are waiting to be filled with images of the greatest grandkids in the world..........as yes, maybe their parents and aunts and uncles too!
