And speaking of scary, look what The Princess and I discovered in one of the turn rows at the barn..........

She was fascinated and wanted me to catch it to show Grumpy Bear. So we had a lesson in 'rattlesnake handling'......... Not really, KT .... We had a lesson in 'DO NOT TOUCH A SNAKE OR PLAY WITH OR TALK TO OR LOOK AT A SNAKE' unless Grammy is with you. And since Grammy is with you today, we can throw rocks at it and listen to how he sounds when he rattles. Well guess what..........? He wouldn't rattle. He (or she) was very docile and we couldn't get any kind of response from him at all.....except the flicking of his tongue.

After about 15 minutes of snake (NOT) handling lessons, we drove on to the east side of the place to see what other, less menacing, critters we could find.

And when we drove back by where we last saw the snake, we couldn't find him. I told The Princess he probably was looking for a mouse or something to eat. And she said, "Go in the weeds........there he is." Yep, and there he was.......deeply camaflouged against the frost nipped weeks. Kinda scary that I didn't see him first and we had been walking in weeds earlier in the day. But not those weeds, just weeds around the outside of the tree rows, close to the house.

Sure hope that KeeKee and Sunflower will let her come back to play with me. Yikes!

Aaaah, this is more like it......you see Mom & Dad, we have harmless critters too; just look at this little sweet butterfly!

I loved this post! We are so glad Avery gets to have a-ven-tors with you. Even though you have a snake catching past, we are proud of you for not teaching Avery how to pick one up....or did you??? she'll tell you know!
