The Best of The Best...The Greatest Generation

.........Taps.............

Day is done...

Gone the sun

From the lake...

From the hills...

From the sky.

All is well...

Safely rest

God is nigh.

Fading light....

Dims the sight

And a star....

Gems the sky....

Gleaming bright

From afar....

Drawing nigh

Falls the night.

Today, on the anniversary of Daddy's passing 6 years ago, we got word that his dear, dear friend, buddy, and POW comrade has died. Jack Bernstein was one of Daddy's best buds. They served together on the Stanvac Calcutta ship and were held together as prisoners of war in Fukuoka #3, Japan during the war. They stayed in touch all through the years and I have had the privilege of remaining in contact with he and his wife during the last 6 years. I believe that they are together again and lookin for a good fishin' hole under a shade tree and munching on a good ol' yellow meated black diamond watermelon.
You are truly the Best of the Best. We love you and will always remember..............
